Work closely with fellow musicians to develop listening skills, timing, and cohesive ensemble performance.
Strengthen core jazz techniques through guided instruction and practice.
Grow as a musician in a supportive, collaborative environment with peers who share your passion.
The Newlonsburg Music Academy Summer Jazz Camp is open to students entering grades 7 through 12 and welcomes all band instruments, piano, guitar, bass, and drums. No audition is required, making this an accessible and encouraging opportunity for students of varying experience levels.
Throughout the week, students will explore improvisation, strengthen their ensemble playing, and develop core jazz techniques while working alongside peers in a collaborative environment. The camp is led by Pierce Cook, a Pittsburgh-based bassist and conductor of the Three Rivers Youth Orchestra Symphonette, who brings both professional experience and a passion for music education.
Participants should bring their own lunch each day, while snacks will be provided. All students will receive a camp T-shirt. The week concludes with a live performance, giving students the chance to showcase what they’ve learned.
Early bird registration is available through May 1st for $295, after which the full tuition is $345. The camp will be held at Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church, located at 4600 Old William Penn Highway in Murrysville, PA.
